We are excited to host the 13th International Conference on Neural Tube Defects in beautiful British Columbia on the campus of Dr. Finnell’s alma mater, the University of British Columbia. Covering nearly 1000 acres in size, the stunning campus is surrounded by forest on three sides and ocean on the fourth, and is just a 30 minute bus ride to Vancouver's downtown core.
The campus has been located on this site for most of its 100-year history, a location that is the traditional territory of the xwmə0–kwəyˇəm (the Musqueam people). The UBC campus is situated on Vancouver’s west side, surrounded by temperate rainforest and sandy beaches. The UBC campus features the Museum of Anthropology, Beaty Biodiversity Museum, Botanical Gardens, and plenty of other great attractions. The university also offers an Aquatic Centre with Olympic-sized indoor pool, the University Golf Club, and other athletic facilities available to the public. Vancouver’s best hiking trails and beaches are located right on campus throughout the Pacific Spirit Regional Park. For more information on UBC’s attractions, please click here. UBC’s natural setting is also complemented by nearby shops and restaurants located within walking distance of guest rooms and meeting space. UBC’s vibrant neighborhood has quality community services such as a hospital on-site, banks, restaurants, pubs, grocery stores, pharmacies, and libraries.
